Huge UK hip-hop recording artist and activist M.I.A has released her debut single from her upcoming album ‘A.I.M’ set to drop on the 9th September . Her new single ‘Go Off’ featuring Skrillex and Blackstarr was debuted on BBC Radio 1 and soon after she released the ‘explosive’ video for the track on her VEVO channel. She also recently released the lyrics for the track on her Instagram account. (Below)
Stopping by at the Annie Mac’s show on BBC Radio 1, M.I.A spoke about the release of her latest album, “It’s the cleanest album I have, It’s my last record so I just want it to be happy. There’s no complaints on it.”
She confirmed that A.I.M will be her last record when asked, “Yes, I think [this is my last record]. I want to go and do some other stuff, take some time out. I’m sure I’ll make music but as an album, [A.I.M] it kind of just came together, I started making it after ‘Borders’, and it just seemed like very itself very quickly, and I just had to go with it.”
M.I.A also briefly discussed the reason behind her deserted explosive video, “I really wanted to make a video with no human beings in it,” and explained that she had “a thousand extras and 125 crew [members]” for her “Borders” video released last year.
The Sri-Lankan ‘Paper Planes’ singer and widely recognised human activist also took to her website after the release of her track, to express her thoughts on the treatment of asylum seekers around the world, sharing a piece on her website by the writer Sinthujan Varatharajah, Check out it out on M.I.A’s website.
