This moment is SURE to go down in history!
Singer-songwriter John Legend made history this past weekend ( Sept.9 ) during his attendance at the annual 2018 Creative Arts Emmys in Los Angeles.
Attending alongside his lyricist, Tim Rice and musical composer Andrew Lloyd Webster, he took home the ‘Outstanding Live Variety Special’ award. John was the executive producer for NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.

“Even Jesus and Judas, a lot of their interaction was based on love, even there was some betrayal, even though there was some disappointment, and we put so much love into this”
“I’m so happy that we were able to do this and that you all love it so much and honored our show.”
This solidified John Legend as the first black man to have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar AND Tony awards, also known as the ‘EGOT‘.
Legend has had bagged himself 10 Grammy awards in the past for Best R&B Artist and Best R&B Vocal Performance, amongst a list of others.
He won an Oscar back in 2015 for Best Original Song for ‘Glory‘ in the movie ‘Selma‘, directed by Ava DuVernay.
Just last year, he swooped up a Tony for co-producing of the best revival of a play-winning production, Jitney.
Legend attended the ceremony alongside his wife, Chrissy Teigan, who was overcome with delight, taking to Instagram to share the special moment with fans;
Other artists such as Common took to Twitter leaving the congratulations for the star writing;
“Congratulations to my good brother @johnlegend for the achievement of a lifetime. EGOT! You are an inspiration brother and a true example of shining your light for good #Excellence,”
