Jaden Smith is Nylon Magazine’s first solo male

Jaden Smith, son of global megastar Will Smith, has become one of the biggest fashion icons of his generation and has recently become the first guy ever to appear solo on the cover of Nylon Magazine since its first publication 17 years ago.

Jaden has recently taken a break from his acting career in which he stars in hit movies such as ‘The Pursuit of Happiness’ and ‘The Karate Kid’, and has now focused his energy on his passion for fashion and has given the world a glimpse at his unique sense of style. He’s committed himself to changing people perceptions of gender norms.

While speaking to Nylon Magazine, he explains while he feels it’s important to break boundaries and address this issue now, “I’m going to take most of the blows for my fellow MSFTS. So, you know, in five years when a kid goes to school wearing a skirt, he won’t get beat up and kids won’t get mad at him. It just doesn’t matter,” he continues. “I’m taking the brunt of it so that later on, my kids and the next generations of kids will all think that certain things are normal that weren’t expected before my time.”

Jaden has often been seen to be wearing skirts and dresses and even stars in Louis Vuitton’s womenswear campaign, wearing a shirt and patterned skirt, definitely not what some people would call normal. Jaden, however, remains confident about his fashion choices, “You just have to believe in yourself, you know,” he says, “The world is going to keep bashing me for whatever I do, and I’m going to keep not caring. I’m going to keep doing the same things—I’m going to keep doing more things.”

Jaden also featured on the cover of  British GQ Style back in March, and explained his thoughts on gender while speaking to the magazine. “I feel like people are kind of confused about gender norms. I feel like people don’t really get it, I’m not saying that I get it, I’m just saying that I’ve never seen any distinction.”

“I don’t see man clothes and woman clothes, I just see scared people and comfortable people.”

We think Jaden is destined to achieve big things and will slowly change the worlds perceptions about how males and females ‘should’ dress for future generations, we definitely admire his confidence and passion! Much love.
